Spring in Washington DC is an exciting time. Not only do the cherry blossoms provide stunning beauty for residents and tourists, but Washington’s slew of cultural events, benefits, and galas this season are a perfect opportunity to connect with like-minded locals.
Here are my picks on what to attend:
Embassy Chef Challenge – Next Tuesday, April 2nd, the Embassy Chef Challenge will allow foodies and global gourmands to taste the world in one night. The event promises authentic cuisine, drinks, and entertainment. The mix of global cultures goes beyond the food, as live performance of dancers and musicians will delight eventgoers. Having attended this event for the past two years, I can vouch that it does not disappoint! Attending foodies vote on social media for the “people’s choice” award and a panel of all-star judges award the rest of the evening’s honors.
Strength in Our Voices Benefit for Change – Strength in Our Voices, a nonprofit devoted to eliminating stigmas surrounding mental health, will throw their fourth annual Benefit for Change on May 4th. Join them for an elegant evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a silent auction in Seasons Restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown. The gala will raise funds that will allow SiOV to spread their award-winning, evidence-based suicide prevention program to even more schools in the Washington D.C. metro area.
Phillips Contemporaries Bash: Maravillas de Mexico – the Phillips Collection and the Embassy of Mexico will host the 2019 Contemporaries Bash, Maravillas de México (Wonders of Mexico), celebrating Mexico’s vibrancy and beauty. The event honors extraordinary women of Mexico, highlighting their innovative and bold artwork that is also rooted in Mexican cultural tradition. The Contemporaries Bash draws over 500 of the most well-connected, artistic, and philanthropic minds of Washington. Enjoy an unforgettable evening while also supporting arts education. The Contemporaries Bash and Phillip’s Annual Gala raise crucial resources for the museum’s award-winning education programs.
Best of Washington 2019: An Evening Under the Sea – On June 6th, the Washingtonian will kick off the summer in style will a lively celebration to sample bites from more than 60 of DC’s best restaurants. Mix and mingle with fellow foodies at this festive event at National Building Museum. The event benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Early bird tickets are on sale through April 1st.
What cultural events and galas are you looking forward to this spring and summer?
